ICR’s 25th Anniversary Celebration Recap
On Friday, September 29, 2017, commemorated the anniversary of our founding backing 1992 with special guest Mobsteel, a design/build company that manufactures automotive aftermarket products and builds custom cars in Detroit. Whether you see Adam Genei, owner of Mobsteel and Detroit Steel Wheel Co., and his crew locally at their shop, headlining events around Metro Detroit or viewing them on their TV show Detroit Steel, which airs on History, the company is a fixture within the Metro Detroit scene. ICR developed a relationship with the company that lead to a few highlights of our robotics facility on the debut episode of their series. We also had a few of our repair and OEM partners come by our event to showcase their service offerings. We were very fortunate to have Atlas Copco, Dengensha America, GTI Spindle and Threadcraft on hand to celebrate the momentous occasion.

Humble Beginnings, Seizing Opportunity
In 1992, resistance welding was a big part of auto manufacturing, and Square D was a large player in this arena with thousands of newer and older, obsolete welders in the field. That year, Square D consolidated their in-house repair operations to their Raleigh, NC, facility, and they asked Gutierrez to lead it. Having been born and raised in Detroit, he didn’t want to move. Gutierrez knew the equipment well and he had an idea. He approached Square D about authorizing him to service and repair the obsolete welders for them. They agreed, and shortly thereafter ICR was born.
